The Stoney Brokes
The Stoney Brokes are Tallaght’s retort to decades of bad headlines. The band emerged from the Dublin suburb in 2010, having earned their stripes on local stages and started gigging on the city centre circuit, providing a spectacle for their live audiences. Their on-line following multiplied during this time as the band attained headline slots all over the country, impressive festival billings and gigs abroad.
Their appeal is energetic, sweaty, garage rock, fused with pop, swing and the occasional adagio. Amy Kelly’s groundshakingly powerful voice and charismatic performance mesmerises audiences while guitarists, Dan McKenna and Ciarán Redmond, switch lead and rhythm while supporting Amy with backing vocals. Ben Thonett’s rigorous bass hooks along with Ollie Jordan-Kelly’s almighty drumming and erratic stage performances sustain the band’s punch and precise delivery on stage and on record.
In 2011, the band released their debut E.P “The Stoney Brokes”, selling out Dublin’s venue of the year; The Grand Social for its launch.
During what will be busy Summer months for the band on stage this year, The Stoney Brokes also plan to start recording their follow up album, for which early stages of pre-production have already begun.
