August and September fun times ahead…
It’s been all go this summer at The Harbour bar, and we are certainly not ready to relinquish what is left of the summer just yet, we’ve got lots in store for you!
But at what cost I hear you ask? The answer is… no euros, nothin’, nada and zip.
Following on from an August Bank Holiday packed with live music, we’re keeping it her lit with Bray natives, The Fever taking to the stage on Thursday, 6th August with their awesome style of heavy soul and bluesy rock, just what the doctor ordered!
Friday, 7th August Galwegian multi instrumentalists Amazing Apples bring their indie folk style tothe stage after a successful host of summer festival slots. And remember, this gig counts as one of your five a day!
We’ve got something very special lined up for the weekend! On Saturday 8th and Sunday, 9thAugust we’ve got The Harbour Hopster Fest. From 1 – 6pm we’ll be throwing open our doors and hosting our own mini festival to celebrate our love of craft brews and all things tasty! We’ll have gorgeous brews from The Wicked Wolf Brewing Company, O Brother Brewing, Craigies Irish Craft Cider, Rascals Brewing Co., The Big Dog’s Galley. Foodies, we’ve got Just Wing It,hot dogs and toasties. Live music is your thing? We’ll have Rake The Ashes, Brand New Switcheroo, Mickey McDonnell and Crooked Jack playing for your delight! We’ve also got giant Jenga, ring toss, Pitch-A-Penny and board games. Plus, why not join in on our Beer Pong League? Later on that night you can check out the sounds of Jim Morrison, when legendary Californian tribute band The Back Doors hit the stage.
Sunday, 9th August, following another day of Hopster Fest revelry, The Song Room Presentswill take place again. This is a night where we welcome some of the finest unsigned artists to take to our Bray stage.
This is one special night you don’t want to miss on Thursday, 13th August, with a double solo headline from Marc O'Reilly and Ciaran Lavery. Showcasing the best of Irish folk and blues, you’ll see why they ‘re two of the most talked about acts amongst music fans and industry folk alike.
Friday, 14th August Full House will be hitting ya with their brilliant mix of party covers.
Saturday, 15th August we’ve got Whelan's regular and Electric Picnic 2014 veteran, Pete Pamf at our place, bringing his unique funk rock sound back to the Live Lounge stage!
Bringing a little bit of funk to your Sunday, catch the cool classic funk sounds of What Gives? onSunday, 16th August.
We have a Grammy Award winner in the house on Thursday, 20th August! Folk musician Pete Cummins, winner of Best Contemporary Folk Album for his collaboration to the album Other Voices, Other Rooms will be with us for what promises to be a very special evening indeed. This is Pete’s second visit to our Live Lounge following a brilliant first show at ours back in April. Make sure to get in early! This will be brilliant.
On Friday, 21st August catch the duo Light Over There, this is an unlikely pairing of veteran rocker Rex Haberman and Galway raised Aileen Henderson, who combine their generational talents to create a sublime Americana Country sound.
Get ready for the house to be rocked reggae style on Saturday, 22nd August as The Bionic Ratsfly the flag for Ska. Get in early!
Roll up on up and come and see four-piece, Psychedelic Pill, who combine their own diverse musical backgrounds to take you on a trip from Neil Young’s earliest work through the Crazy Horse collaborations and beyond on Thursday, 27th August.
On Friday, 28th August we’ll be bringing you Aaron Anthony. Aaron’s eclectic mix of pop-folk sounds has drawn comparisons with the likes of Thom Yorke, Rufus Wainwright and Paul Simon, and we look forward to welcoming him to ours.
The renowned Harbour Bar House Band Toasted Special, will be serving up some tasty tunes on Saturday, 29th August, with a side order of PARTY!
Firm festival favourites East Coast Jazz Band play on Sunday, 30th August with their cool mix of popular jazz styles ranging from Dixieland, Ragtime and bossa nova to help you get your Swing on!
Get your fix of Irish county blues on Thursday, 3rd September with The Rye River Band, as they blend their mix of Americana and Roots with original material. Gigging for over 25 years, the Rye River Band are bona fide veterans of the roots music scene both in Ireland and the UK. They are self-described as "Country Blues with some Green added"!
From Devon to Bray, Mad Dog McRea will be raising hands, lifting feet and getting the weekend started on Friday, 4th September with their unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs. They are over to perform at Electric Picnic the very same weekend, so if you can’t make it to the picnic, why not get a slice of theaction at our Live Lounge. More seating. Cold drinks. Inside!
Expatriate New Yorker Ben Prevo will be singing and playing his guitar with genre bending aplomb as The Ben Prevo Band perform on Saturday, 5th September. Expect perfected blues delivered with soul.
No, no, no, the weekend is not over until you hear an acoustic melty-pot, with flavours of jazz and folk on Sunday, 6th September from all female four piece noise - makers that are Mongoose. And breathe!
